FLOWERY BRANCH – Mardi Gras has passed and Ash Wednesday is upon us. In celebration of Lenten, the forty day period before Easter that many Christians use for fasting, Flowery Branch United Methodist Church will hold a “Soup Supper” every Wednesday beginning March 9th.

If I was to think of where a trendy, upscale diner would be my mind would probably gravitate more toward West Midtown or Virginia-Highlands rather than Sugar Hill (near Buford). What we did find was décor equally worthy of the tag “trendy” and friendliness that the South is known for.

We were greeted immediately and seated within 10 minutes (NOTE: we arrived on the tail end of the lunch rush for Sunday brunch. I expect longer waits normally). This brief moment of waiting gave us the opportunity to lust over the dessert display. We found out later that the cakes are made by the owners chef brother.
