Weekend roadwork: I-285 and other sad stories

(WXIA) -- Another weekend, another series of road projects -- it's a familiar tune in metro Atlanta.

Crews will be on Interstate 285 and other highways throughout the weekend. As always, all work is weather permitting.

Scheduled projects include:

Cobb/Fulton counties
* Two southbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between South Cobb Drive and Bolton Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for concrete slab replacement.

DeKalb County
* Two northbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Glenwood Road and Covington Highway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign work.

Fulton County
* Two Inner Loop and one Outer Loop lanes of I-285 will be closed between Roswell and Peachtree Dunwoody Roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure installation.
* Various lanes will be closed throughout the weekend at the southern I-285/85 interchange for bridge work.
* Two northbound lanes of Ga. 400 will be closed at the former toll booth from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday for paving.
* Traffic in both directions will be shifted at the Ga. 400 interchange with Northridge Road onto a new portion of the replacement overpass.

Gwinnett County
* One southbound lane of I-85 will be closed between Indian Trail Lilburn Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for bridge construction.
* One northbound lane of I-85 will be closed between Pleasantdale Road and Jimmy Carter Boulevard from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for bridge construction.

Rockdale County
* The westbound I-20 exit and entrance ramps to Salem Road will be closed all weekend.

Rockdale/Newton counties
* Two westbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between Almon and Salem roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Weekend events that may have an impact on Atlanta traffic include Saturday's Georgia State/Air Force football game, Saturday's Georgia Tech/Georgia Southern football game, ONE Musicfest at Lakewood Amphitheatre on Saturday and the Atlanta Arts Festival at Piedmont Park.
