Interstate work continues through the weekend

(WXIA) -- Another weekend, another series of road projects -- that seems to be the summertime theme in metro Atlanta.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said the roadwork that has plagued drivers for the past several weekends will continue through Monday morning.

Among the projects:

Cherokee County
* ROLLING CLOSURE: Nightly sweeping on I-575 in both directions

Cobb County
* Two southbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Paces Ferry and South Atlanta roads from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for slab replacement.

Cobb/Fulton counties
* Two lanes in each direction of I-285 will be closed between I-75 and New Northside Drive from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign construction.

Douglas County
* Two westbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between Liberty and Post roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday for resurfacing; cars will be able to travel on the outside shoulder to get past the work.

Downtown Atlanta
* Two eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between Candler Road and Capitol Avenue from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly for restriping.
* All lanes but one of the on-ramp to I-20 east from the southbound Downtown Connector will be closed Saturday night.
* Multiple eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed betwen Capitol Avenue and Hill Street overnight Monday.

Forsyth County
* ROLLING CLOSURE: Nightly sweeping on Georgia 400 in both directions

Fulton County
* Three westbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Riverside and Northside drives nightly.
* Two westbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Georgia 400 and the Glenridge Connector nightly.

Gwinnett County
* ROLLING CLOSURE: Nightly sweeping on I-85 in both directions between Old Peachtree and Shallowford roads

Hall County
* One northbound right lane will be closed between Friendship and Spout Springs roads from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for slab replacement.
* ROLLING CLOSURE: Nightly sweeping on I-985 in both directions

Rockdale/Newton counties
* Two westbound right lanes of I-20 will be closed on a three-mile stretch between Conyers and Covington from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.
* The I-20 west exit and entrance ramps to U.S. 278/Georgia 12 will be closed all weekend.

Weekend events that may have an impact on traffic include Friday's Juneteenth Celebration at the Atlanta Cyclorama in Grant Park; Friday's Atlanta Dream game at Phillips Arena; Saturday's VITY Tour at the Georgia World Congress Center; Sunday's Counting Crows concert at Chastain Park Amphitheatre; and Sunday's Brad Paisley, Randy Houser, Leah Turner & Charlie Worsham concert at Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood.
