Falcons assistant coach Koetter to remain with team
News

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday morning that the team's offensive coordinator, Dirk Koetter, has decided to remain with the team and will not pursue a head coach's slot at the present time.

Koetter had been mentioned as a possible candidate for one of the many coaching positions that came open this week after the end of the regular season.

The Kansas City Chiefs had requested permission to speak to Koetter about the open head coach's slot there, after they fired head coach Romeo Crennel Monday.

The Falcons sit out this week as the NFL playoffs get underway and await the lowest remaining seed among the teams playing in the Wild Card round, and will play host for the Divisional playoff game on Jan. 13.
