Children's patient's Super Bowl dream comes true | Community Spirit
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Tariq Jalil is a standout football player at Flowery Branch High School. He has also had to fight hard to stay on the field.
Jalil suffered two torn ACLs. He rehabbed his injuries at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, losing more than a year of play time in the sport that is his passion.
Just days before he was set to take the field again, the home Jalil shared with his mother burned to the ground. They lost everything. But the teen persevered, returning to play at the top of his game.
Last Wednesday, Jalil thought he was returning to Children's for a regular checkup. Instead, he was greeted by a large group from RE/MAX, who had heard his amazing story. To Jalil's amazement, they told him that he and his mom were going to the Super Bowl. Everything was paid for -- airfare, hotel and tickets to the big game.
Jalil's mother knew about the surprise, and said it was all she could do not to tell him.
Super Bowl night, Jalil and his mom shared photos of the two of them in Phoenix, enjoying the unexpected dream come true.
