AJC Peachtree Road Race registration ends Thursday

ATLANTA -- Thursday is the last day to register online for a chance to run the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

Mega Millions rolls to $290M for Friday's drawing

ATLANTA (WXIA) - The Georgia Lottery says after no one matched all the numbers drawn Tuesday night, Friday night's Mega Millions jackpot has rolled to $290 million.

Six players from Georgia won $10,000 in Tuesday's drawing, from Acworth, Americus, Blairsville, Rome, Tennille and Villa Rica. One player in Valdosta was able to boost his $10,000 prize to $40,000 with the Megaplier option.

The numbers drawn Tuesday night for Mega Millions were 1, 4, 6, 11, 14 and the Mega Ball 30.

A single winner in Friday night's drawing could pocket about $11 million a year for 26 years with the annuity option. A cash option player could win a single payment of about $205 million. Both of those figures are pre-tax amounts.

Property tax return deadline is April 1

April 1 is the deadline for Hall County property owners to file a property tax return with the Tax Assessors office. Property owners are not required to file a return.

Real and Personal Property forms can be found on the Tax Assessors office web page under Forms and Applications. Forms must be received or postmarked with the official USPS postmark in order to be considered timely.

Reasons to file a return

• If you would like the Tax Assessors office to review your real estate property appraisal.

• If you need to report additions or deletions of buildings on your real estate property.

• If you need to report new acquisitions of personal property, such as business equipment or boats

• To make sure existing personal property is depreciated properly.

Pollen count breaks new record

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Bad news for allergy sufferers: it's another record-setting day for pollen levels.

Tuesday's pollen count is 9,368!

The Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic reports extremely high pollen levels for trees, namely beech, Birch, Mulberry and Oak. 

Tuesday's pollen is also high for grass and moderate for weeds like Sheep Sorrel and Dock.

Spring baseball season for Hall County children ready to start

Flowery Branch --  The Field of Dreams Spring Baseball Season starts on Tuesday, March 27. This group will meet on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for six weeks. Please note that we will not meet on April 3.

The league is open to school aged children with all levels of physical and developmental abilities. Cost is $5 per player.

League play takes place at the Phil Niekro Field of Dreams, located in Alberta Banks Park.

Mega Millions rises to $241M for Tuesday night

ATLANTA (WXIA) - Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot has jumped to an estimated $241 million for Tuesday's drawing after no one matched all the winning numbers drawn last Friday night.

Friday's winning numbers were 28, 29, 43, 51, 53 and the Mega Ball 7. Two Georgia Mega Millions players, one in Norcross and another in Kingsland, won $10,000 Friday, and one player in Fairburn won $30,000.

The jackpot has rolled over 15 times since the last jackpot was awarded in late January.

A single winning ticket in Tuesday's drawing could net a winner about $9.2 million a year for the next 26 years under the annuity option, or a single payment under the cash option of about $171 million - before taxes.
